Weight. The highlight of this Hoka boot is its light weight. The Trail Code GTX comes in at 15.5 oz (440g) which is about 20% lighter than the average weight of our lab-tested hiking boots! On the trail, it feels more like a running shoe with a high-top collar and added protection. Test results.
This drop from heel to toe of 4mm is actually similar to thin-soled shoes and far less than most hiking boots. The midsole is made from two layers, the upper one being EVA, the lower one a proprietary blend of rubber and EVA. Hoka One One says this combination retains its cushioning after extended wear. The ankle construction on the Hoka One One Tor Ultra Hi WP is much more akin to a light hiker/day hiker than a trekking boot, and is made of a neoprene-like material. Once again, it’s really, really comfortable and made all day wearing a breeze. It was also really effective at keeping dirt, twigs, and other detritus out of your boot all day.

This is a great shoe for anyone who wants a good weekend or everyday hiking shoe. The Toa GTX won’t have any issues on varied terrain and is perfect if you’re worried about running into water on the trail.
